It sounds fine. I think we're pretty good. -Filip after the last rehearsal before the first concert. The band was made of former members of Kindergarden in spring 2001 (Kindergarden were Jan Polansky, Filip Prahl and Honza Novotny). I'm really glad I replied to the Filip's advert. It was a small piece of paper pinned on the university notice board. -Honza (November 2001) Attempting to be "The Beatles Revival Band" didn't go well. But there are several moments from that time that I really like to remember. -Honza (November 2001) After all it went nowhere...it had to stop. But sometimes I miss playing the Beatles' songs. -Filip (November 2001) Hypnoises exist from the moment when Filip and Honza were joined by Tina. They were starting with songs by Oasis and Cranberries. However, They were still adding more and more songs written by Filip or Honza and also... Tina. After all they were left just with their own songs. I wasn't quite sure about it, but it proved to be, and it still seems to be, the right way of doing things, of doing music. -Filip (November 2001) After Tina joined us I suddenly started to believe that nothing can stop us anymore, well, actually even now I think so. -Honza (November 2001) In July 2001, H.B. joined the band and the preparations for the first concert began. You wanted a drummer, so you've got me. -H.B. (June 2001) It was a small step for H.B., but a giant leap for Hypnoises -Filip (November 2001) We had a terrible room for practising. It was an olb bunker, deep under the city and... the humidity was so high that my hair went curly. It was quite bad for the instruments, especially for our guitars and... well, even worse for the drums. But we had to play and practise. Anywhere. -Filip (November 2001) The first concert was at the small festival: Vtelno Live, July 21, 2001 in Vtelno u Mostu, the Czech Republic. In September and October 2001, Hypnoises recorded their first single with the following songs: The Fairy, Purified Man and Waiting. It was all recorded in one day, the rhythm tracks. And I must say I was surprised how quickly. Then we just had to record singing and so on. -Filip (November 2001) The CD was introduced on the first Hypnoises' concert in Prague (the concert with the Comedy & Beat band). It took place on 8th December in The French Theatre Prague. The CD was introduced with the participation of Mr. Karel Racek (thanks to the so called "Racek's Paradox" the one who put the members of the band together) and Mr. Jaromir Knittl (Director of the French Theatre Prague). Before Christmas 2001 the band broke up and the bass player Honza Novotny is no more its member. On the other hand, Richie joined Hypnoises as a new guitarist. I must say I feel sorry for many things but probably it's the way it should have been. And I think I will wait and see. -Filip (January 2002) For me, Richie was somebody who could probably play with us but who I did not know and only heard of him. Actually, we met after the Christmas... And today, I think, his guitar can improve the sound of Hypnoises. In fact, I really think so. -Filip (January 2002) On 26 January 2002, the second gig in Prague took place. With Comedy & Beat and in the French Theatre Prague, again. Because of Tina's illness, only four songs were performed. Honza Novotny played bass as a guest. It's a pity we could not play more songs... -Filip (January 2002) At the next gig, planned on 23 February, together with Comedy & Beat again, Hypnoises did not play because of illness. At the rehearsal on Wednesday 6 March, Radek (bass player) became a new member of Hypnoises. Wanna play. -Radek's answer on whether he wants to play with Hypnoises (March 2002) In March 2002, Tina stopped co-operation with the band due to health reasons. On 23 March, Hypnoises played in the French Theatre Prague again, together with Comedy & Beat, again. In March 2002, H.B. decided to quit co-operation with the band and Hypnoises started looking for a new drummer. In April, Tomas Vondracek, the Salash band guitarist, became the new drummer. Hypnoises started to play more often than ever before. In the beginning, together with a pop-rock band Odnikud Nikam. By the end of 2002 , there were two periods when the band played every week. Nevertheless, the members changed again. In December 2002, the bass player changed. The new one was Ondra. I think it's necessary, and really very important, essential, in fact, that people in our band stand in defence of our music... -Filip (December 2002) By 10th January 2003, Martin became a new guitarist. Due to changes in the band, the gig in the Batalion Music Pub (planned for 16th January as an Oasis Revival Evening) was cancelled. Hypnoises stopped playing in public for a while. The first three gigs took place in the end of March 2003 in Prague. Which band can say: We sat outside, we ate and it's raining. -Martin (10th May 2003) After a serie of gigs, on 26th June Martin left the band. The two planned gigs were cancelled. From 21st July, Hypnoises have a new guitarist, Achiles. |
